maybe snow!

It's that time of year that stores, radio stations and people at work start to play those Christmas songs. I have no problem with that, it's just that so many of those songs stink.

If it were up to me, it would be Sleigh Ride (the instrumental version) all day every day. But I am also that kind of girl who orders the same thing every time at restaurants for weeks or years at a time. I really like the part in Sleigh Ride where they make the horse footfall sounds out of coconuts. Well at least I imagine they're coconuts. I am sure there is someone out there who knows what they are. Don't tell me. I like to think there's a guy in the pit click-clocking coconut shells. Maybe he really is.

In other news, it may snow up in Yucaipa tonight. Wouldn't that be fun? I don't have kids at school this week, so I'd be in the office with my cup of coffee and Sleigh Ride track playing over and over staring out the window at the snow.

CDs in my car

I used to listen to talk radio a lot. I would listen to NPR for liberal info and then tune in to KFI for more conservative views. I am entertained by both. But lately, I've been listening to CDs.

Some are from high school, discovered in a pile at my mom's house. Oh Ben Folds Five, where have you been? Hidden track, I'm a genius, I bet no one else has found you! KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas, what a treasure.

Right now I am hooked on the new Coldplay CD. Judge if you must. I have always liked them. I am totally digging it. I play the first four tracks over and over. Maybe someday I will get into the rest. But for now, it's my car, and I'll do what I want!

That is my entry for today. I took Jennie to the vet today but that is not nearly as interesting as the CDs in my car.

Nothing Tastes as Good as Skinny Feels...

So yes, I have lost some weight recently. Like 40 pounds. But before anyone goes, wow good for you, I say wait a minute, I feel the same.

I am sure you've heard that saying people say, nothing tastes as good as skinny feels. Let me tell you, I know I've lost weight. I know because my clothes don't fit anymore and friends and other nice people have commented that I look better. That's wonderful. I mean it. I can't believe I did it. But you know what? I pretty much feel the same.

Those thighs that were big? Guess what, I still think they're big. The belly that hasn't gone away is not as large as before, but's there. I still feel like I have pounds to spare, etc.

But let me tell you what else. A warm cinnamon roll tastes great. A cup of coffee with the full-fat creamer is wonderful on a cool November morning. I big burger and fries is fun and a margarita is delightful. I might even debate that they taste as good as skinny feels.

Or maybe I just haven't felt skinny yet?

It's a pretty big deal.

We have a saying at work, I am not sure where it came from, but it's a statement worth repeating: it's a pretty big deal. I mean, this applies to just about anything you're saying or trying to convey.

I have a sore throat today. (It's a pretty big deal.)
I haven't called my friend in a month. (It's a pretty big deal.)
It's going to rain tomorrow. (It's a pretty big deal.)

It's also important to remember that when others share their lives or current events with you, while you may not find what they're saying particuliarly important or interesting, it's generally, well, you know,

a pretty big deal

to them. Or else why share?
